Should any of our guests have the unexplainable urge to take a break from being pampered at the inn, East Hampton and the surrounding Hamptons offer a wide variety of entertaining pastimes. If you like, our staff will be pleased to assist you in planning your outings.

Sports enthusiasts will want to go bicycling, running or horseback riding. Tennis courts and golf courses are plentiful. Water sports include boating, fishing, jetskiing and surfing. There are gyms and health clubs for the health-conscious, and bowling and miniature golf for the less athletic.

Shoppers (both real and window) will enjoy the boutiques, antique stores, art galleries, farmer's markets, craft & antique fairs, and of course the outlet stores on Main Street, or in Amagansett Square, Bridgehampton Common or Tanger Mall.

Or just go sightseeing. We have historic tours, nature walks, a variety of museums, as well as special events such as house tours, the Bridgehampton Classic, and the Hamptons Film Festival.

At night, enjoy fine dining (we'll help with suggestions and reservations); go to the movies; visit a night club. (The Stephen Talkhouse offers a different band every night.)

Possibly saving the best for last, the area offers a large selection of both ocean and bay beaches, some with the challenge of the surf, others with barely a ripple. Not only for avid swimmers and surfers, each beach offers its own character, clientele, views; some with beautiful sunrises, others with breathtaking sunsets. Relaxing and doing nothing is perfectly acceptable; try the traditional Hamptons beach regimen of bringing a good book and pretending to read it while you stare out over the water and restore your mind.

Boating enthusiasts will want to take advantage of The Baker House Chris Craft Corsair (pictured at right). Ask for boat reservation details when you book your visit.
